Performing in a Polynesian Cultural Center night show is one of the best memories many of our alumni have. The thoughts of working with cast members and instructors, the enthusiasm of sharing the PCC’s culminating experience with the guests, and the aloha we shared just don’t go away . . . even as the years pass. So it’s no wonder that alumni from near and far — many who haven’t been on stage since the good old days in Laie — have made special efforts over the years to come back to Laie and put on unforgettable, sold-out alumni evening shows:
We started doing full-scale alumni shows for our 25th anniversary in 1988: A great idea was born. The 30th anniversary production in 1993 was so special that even more alumni turned out for the unforgettable 40th anniversary spectacular.
Granted, in each of these productions many costumes had to be let out a little, a few old-timers might have felt the need for more oxygen or hoped the music and drums would stop a little early. . . but the joy of sharing our culture in the greatest Polynesian show on earth energized both the alumni performers and the wildly enthusiastic audiences.
We now have another opportunity to once again experience all the color, beauty, fun and spirit of Polynesia when the alumni star in the PCC’s 60th anniversary Alumni night show.
